Each statement below is the approved public wording of one reviewed official record, shown with its access and next-review dates. If a record is due or stale, its wording is replaced by a recheck notice until an editor re-verifies the source.

Who does what in Alberta’s model

Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC)

AGLC operates Play Alberta, the provincial government-run regulated gambling site, and describes revenue from it as flowing to Alberta’s General Revenue Fund. This role is specific to Play Alberta.

Alberta iGaming Corporation

The province’s iGaming Crown corporation describes itself as conducting and managing Alberta’s regulated online gaming market by partnering with registered operators under formal operating agreements. It publishes the registered iGaming sites directory used throughout this page.

Play Alberta

The government-run site. AGLC’s announcement describes it as accessible to Albertans over 18 who are physically located in the province. That statement applies to Play Alberta only — never extend it to a private brand.

Private operators

Private brands operate in the regulated market only through agreements with the Alberta iGaming Corporation. Registration is evidenced by an entry in the official directory — matching brand plus exact domain — not by advertising or self-description.

Role descriptions summarize the corporation’s own About page and are limited to that scope. They are not legal conclusions about any specific operator, and AGLC and the Alberta iGaming Corporation are distinct organizations.

How to verify an Alberta iGaming site

Work through all six checks against the official directory before relying on any site:

   Find the legal entity

   A consumer brand is not a legal entity. Look for the operating company named in the regulator’s own records or in the site’s terms before you rely on any brand name.

   Match the consumer brand

   Check that the exact brand spelling used by the operator appears in the official directory. Similar names are not matches.

3. 03

   Match the exact public domain

   Compare the address bar character-for-character against the domain published by the official directory. Alternate domains, redirects, shortened links, and look-alike spellings are not evidence.

   Check the registration evidence itself

   Read the official directory entry rather than an operator’s own claims, badges, or press releases. Advertising, social-media accounts, and affiliate reviews are not registration evidence.

5. 05

   Check source freshness

   Registries change. Note when the official source was last reviewed and re-check it before acting; this page states its own review dates on every record.

6. 06

   Check responsible-gambling information

   Registered sites must provide limit tools, self-exclusion, and support information. Confirm those controls exist on the exact site you reached — not only in marketing copy.

Card networks can classify lottery or gambling purchases as cash advances. The fee, if any, is set by the card issuer, not by iCanBet and not by Interac.
