Every baccarat round comes down to one of three bets. The house edge figures below are standard for an eight-deck game; every bet still favours the house over time, so none assures a profit.
Whether a third card is drawn is decided entirely by fixed rules — the dealer or software applies them, and you never make these choices. Knowing them simply helps you follow the action.

The Banker's third-card decisions follow a fixed table based on the Banker total and the Player's third card. You do not need to memorise it to play — the game enforces it automatically.
